Mid Season Rule changes

Attention Captains!

The following is a list of second half rule updates and clarifications from last night's mid-season ref committee meeting:

Home runs do not count towards a player's individual home run count or a team's home run count if that team is winning by ten or more runs at the time of the kick, however any runs scored on such a play do count.

In a play where a runner either (a) misses a base while running or (b) leaves a base early in a tag up attempt, it is not the ref's responsibility to alert either team to such an infraction. In a case where the defensive team feels a base was missed or a base was left early in a tag up attempt, the appeal process is on the defensive team's shoulders. To appeal such a play, once the ball is "dead," a player from the defensive team must alert the nearest ref to the base in question by touching the base with ball in hand. At that time, and only at that time, will the ref give his/her call (out or safe) on the play.

If a kicked ball strikes a runner who is standing on a base, and that runner is forced to leave due to a runner(s) behind him/her on the base paths, the runner is OUT.

A kicked ball must travel at least one foot in front of home plate to be considered a fair ball (the entire ball must be one foot in front).

If a player is injured during game play, and that injury forces that team to add a second sub, they may do so without being penalized by the one out each time through the lineup rule. The sub does not kick last in the order, but simply replaces the injured player in the kicking order.

If a team begins a game with a sub(s), those players, as already stated in the rules, must kick at the bottom of the kicking order. However, if active roster players from that team show up during the game, they are to be placed below any subs in the kicking order. During the playoffs, as always, a team cannot play with subs UNLESS a roster player is injured during game play which results in that team dropping below the four male or female minimum. In such a case, a sub from another team can play, however the one out each time through the lineup rule will be applied. That sub may continue to play throughout the playoffs, with the team forced to take one out each time through the lineup for the remainder of the playoffs.

We will now have a dry erase board behind home plate near the home ref for the purpose of score keeping. It is the kicking team's responsibility to update the score as runs cross home plate.

Thanks,
The OKC Rule Committee
